The family of Raolatu "Rae" Alowonle  has recently been contacted by the East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney. The District Attorney's office is trying to persuade the family to accept the lesser charges of Manslaughter and Burglary against Rae's killer. The family has stood firm in not accepting these charges because of the maliciousness of the perpetrator's actions. "We will not water down the heinous acts and premeditated murder against Rae. We need not ignore the violence against the children involved, and the endangerment to the community", stated one family member.

Despite surviving victims, eyewitnesses, videotapes, and physical evidence the DA still suggests a lesser plea deal. The DA informed the family they would like to seek a speedy trial towards the end of 2012, it has been over three years and still no resolution. The District Attorney has been going back and forth with the defense attorney, who has been able to get prior abuse cases of four other women thrown out along with testimony from the mother of the perpetrator’s child. The lack of efficiency and prolonging of this case has been daunting on the family. Please continue to keep Raolatu’s family in your prayers as they continue to seek Justice for Rae.
